West Indies cricket team on Sunday attained four-wicket win against England on Day 5  of the first Test of #raisethebat series at Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Sunday. The visitors went 1-0 up in the 3-match series to mark the return of cricket amid coronavirus pandemic with a historic win. Yesterday's victory was just the 3rd win for Windies against England on English soil in over two decades.


Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli was all praise for West Indies' brilliant showing. Captain Kohli took to social media after Windies's historical win, saying: "Wow @windiescricket what a win. Top display of test cricket."





Jermaine Blackwood and Shannon Gabriel starred with bat and ball to help Windies beat England by 4 wickets. Chasing 200 for victory, Roston Chase (37 off 88 balls) and Blackwood (95 runs off 154 balls) shared a match-winning 73-run stand for the fifth wicket to keep Windies on their path to victory.


West Indies captain Jason Holder described the win as one of the best in West Indies Test history.


"One of our best victories started off Holder in the post-match presentation. "Blackwood was outstanding. Disappointing to see him get out on 95 but that's how he plays. Jermaine always tries and never short on effort, and today was his big moment."


The next Test will be played at the Old Trafford Ground in Manchester, starting July 16.
