India’s veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin recollected the conversation he had with Virat Kohli when both were batting during India’s thrilling win against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup at the MCG in Melbourne. The 36-year-old player chipped in the middle to bat when India needed two runs off one ball and then he finished the game to help India get a famous victory.

In a conversation with the ICC, Ashwin talked about the chat he had with Kohli and he said, “When I came to bat against Pakistan for the final ball in the World Cup, Virat Kohli gave me around 7 options to play that one ball.

It was the former India skipper Virat Kohli who single-handedly propelled India to a historic win by four wickets over arch-rivals Pakistan with a terrific 53-ball 82 not out in their high-octane T20 World Cup game.

Pakistan had a terrible start but they managed to post a fighting total of 159 for eight. The Indian team took the game to the last ball and finished the chase with Kohli and Hardik Pandya (40) building a crucial stand. The duo revived their team by building a 113-run partnership for the fourth wicket after they were struggling at  31/4 at one stage.

Iftikhar Ahmed’s 34-ball 51 and Shan Masood’s unbeaten 52 off 42 balls helped Pakistan post a decent total after they lost their first two wickets with just 15 runs on the board in the fourth over.
