India trounced the Windies by a huge 318-run margin at Antigua on Sunday to win the opening Test at Antigua and take a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series. The Indian win came on the back of a fine century by vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and a collective bowling effort by the Indian seamers.


The trio of Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami bowled out the Windies for a meagre 100-run in their second innings after the Indians had set the hosts a herculean target on

India's win against the West Indies  in the Antigua Test also gave Virat Kohli his 27th Test victory as skipper. Kohli equaled the record of MS Dhoni for most wins by an Indian skipper in Test cricket. While Dhoni won 27 out of the 60 games he skippered for India, Kohli achieved the same number of wins in just his 47th game as Indian captain.

The victory against West Indies was Kohli's seventh as captain of Indian Test side outside Asia. Former Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq holds the records for winning most Tests as captain outside Asia among Asian captains with 8 wins. Ganguly is at the third place with 6 wins.

The victory on Sunday is Kohli's 100th win as Team India captain. Kohli is only the third Indian besides Mohammed Azharuddin and Dhoni to register 100 international wins as skipper.
