New Delhi: Anil Kumble decided to step down as the coach of Indian cricket team on Tuesday, putting an end to widely speculated feud with skipper Virat Kohli.
Despite a tremendous coaching record, Anil Kumble refused to seek extension and leg spinner’s resignation raised eye brows of entire cricketing fraternity.
Although, it was India skipper Virat Kohli who grabbed headlines in the entire episode.
Pointing fingers at Virat, Kumble termed his partnership with the skipper as “untenable”, and the latter had apprehensions with his style of coaching.
However, Virat has remained tight-lipped on the ongoing controvers. But, the 28-year-old deleted his previous tweet, where he had welcomed Anil Kumble as the coach of Indian cricket team in June 2016.
Virat wrote, “Heartiest welcome to @anilkumble1074 Sir. Look forward to your tenure with us. Great things in store for Indian Cricket with you."
The duo had fallout since the England series but things worsened after India’s Humiliating loss to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy.
Kumble was expected to travel with Indian team to the Caribbean island but he refused to accompany the team, citing personal reason which was followed by a resignation letter.
Indian team will be without the head coach and appointment for the top job is imminent.
