Indian cricket team inflicted a humiliating 318-run defeat on West Indies in the first Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The clinical win over the West Indies gave India their biggest ever Test win by runs margin on overseas soil. India's win was largely built around the stellar ton by Ajinkya Rahane and some lethal spells of fast bowling by the seam trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Ishant Sharma.


Indian skipper Virat Kohli registered his 27th win as Test captain and equaled the record held by his predecessor Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

More importantly, Kohli also became India's most successful skipper in overseas Tests. The win in Antigua Test was Kohli's 12th overseas win as captain, the most by an Indian skipper. He went past the record of Sourav Ganguly. who has skippered India to 11 Test wins on overseas soil.

Kohli stands atop the list with 12 wins in overseas Tests, followed by Sourav Ganguly who has 11 wins. MS Dhoni is third on the list with 6 victories followed by MS Dhoni who has five wins to his credit.

After the first Test of the 2-match series played out at Antigua, the two teams will head to the Carribean Island of Jamaica, where the second Test will commence from Aug 30 till September 2.
