Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli often makes headlines for the wrong reasons. Once again, he is in the news after his wife alleged that he abused and thrashed her under the influence of alcohol. His wife Andrea has filed a complaint against him. According to Mumbai Police, an FIR has been registered against former cricketer Vinod Kambli at Bandra Police Station in Mumbai.

"Despite trying to pacify him, he abused me and my son for no reason. He charged at us. After hitting the cooking panhandle, he charged again with a bat. I managed to stop him before leaving with my son, and rushed to the hospital," Andrea has put on record in the FIR.

Earlier, Kambli had been booked in drunken driving cases in 2022 by police. He and his wife had been accused of beating their maid also. The former India player went to Mumbai Cricket Association for a job and he appealed to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he will stop drinking alcohol immediately if the job requires him to do so. The former India batter even said that he drinks occasionally and is not an addict or a regular alcohol drinker.

"There are rules and regulations which everyone has to follow. If there are any rules that don’t allow you to do certain things, everyone must follow them. I will stop it [drinking] immediately if told to do so...no problem at all!," said Kambli to Mid-Day.

"I came into the CIC [Cricket Improvement Committee], but it was an honorary job. I went to the MCA for some help. I have a family to look after. I told the MCA many times that if you require me, I am there whether it is at the Wankhede Stadium or at BKC. Mumbai cricket has given me a lot. I owe my life to this game," he added.

Born on 18 January 1972 in Mumbai, Vinod Kambli and Sachin Tendulkar had same mentor, late Ramakant Achrekar.  According to media reports, Vinod Kambli's net worth is between 1 to 1.5 million dollars. In 2022, his annual income reportedly remains only Rs 4 lakh which is insufficient for living in the financial capital of the country. Kambli owns a house in Mumbai and reportedly has a Range Rover car.
