Wednesday marked a terrific beginning of the Indian domestic season with the Vijay Hazare trophy. 24 teams tried their lucks out in the first day of the month long tournament and a plethora of capped and uncapped players came out with flying colours.

Match 1: Baroda vs Mumbai, KSCA Cricket (2) Ground, Alur
Baroda won the toss and opted to bat first. With Krunal Pandya’s 111-ball 85 and Yusuf Pathan’s 40, Baroda posted 238 on the board. In return, Mumbai won the game single handedly, by 9 wickets.

Match 2: Goa vs Maharashtra, KSCA Cricket (3) Ground, Alur
Maharashtra opted to bowl after wining the toss. Goa put a tough competiton for the opponents as 7 of their batsmen scored in double figures to put 266 runs on the board. Maharashtra opener Jay Pande smashed a century and won the game for his team by 5 wickets.

Match 3: Himachal Pradesh vs Punjab, KSCA Cricket Ground, Alur
Himachal Pradesh could only win the toss as punjab perfectly outplayed them. Under a new skipper, Punjab scored 290 runs with the help of a magnificent century from Shubman Gill and a 48-run knock from veteran Yuvraj Singh. In return, Himachal Pradesh were bowled out for 255, handing over a 35-run victory to Punjab.

Match 4: Kerala vs Andhra, Palam A Stadium, Delhi
Andhra exhibited a terrific perfromance to save a low-scoring affair. They batted first after wining the toss but could only post 190 runs. However, some gritty bowling from Karn Sharma, Ricky Bhui and Bandaru Ayyappa snatched victory from Kerala’s jaws. Andhra won the match by 7 runs.

Match 5: Madhya Pradesh vs Hyderabad, Palam B Stadium, Delhi
Madhya Pradesh won the toss and opted to bat first. Rajat Patidar (49), Venkatesh Iyer (44) and Saransh Jain (45) helped their team posting 231 on the board. In return, Tanmay Agarwal (83) and Rohit Rayudu (78) took the game home with their terrific knocks.

Match 6: Uttar Pradesh vs Saurashtra, Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi
Saurashtra were invited to bat first and the opening pair of Robin Uthappa and Sheldon Jackson gave a dream start, stitching 194 runs for the opening wicket. Indian stalwarts Cheteshwar Pujara (31) and Ravindra Jadeja (14) failed to create an impact, however, Saurashtra posted 303/9. In return, UP lost the game by 25 runs. Young bowler Shivam Mavi took an amzing hat-trick to get a five-wicket haul.

Match 7: Services vs Tripura, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru
Services defeated Tripura by seven wickets in a rain-hit match. The game reduced to 43 overs a side, the former chose to bowl first under overcast conditions and ended up bundling out the rival for 118 in 38.4 overs. As rain intervened during the innings break, the contest was further reduced to 35 overs and Services chased down the revised target of 107 in 25.2 overs to gain full points.

Match 8: Manipur vs Puducherry, Moti Bagh Stadium, Vadodara
Puducherry won the toss and invited Manipur to bat. Sarag Udheshi took a four-fer to bowl out Manipur on 120. In return, Puducherry chased down the target with 8 wickets in hand and 24.3 overs to spare.

Match 9: Bihar vs Nagaland, Shastri Maidan, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand
Back to the domestic fold after a gap of 18 years, Bihar put up a solid batting display led by Babul Kumar's 121 not out to cruise to the 254-run target with 38 balls to spare. Opting to bat, debutants Nagaland got off to a promising start with opener Nitesh Lochab's 79 from 69 balls (12x4, 2x6). But Samar Quadri (3/35) put on the brakes with a twin blow of Lochab and Sedezhalie Rupero (35) as Nagaland were restricted to a modest 253/8.

Match 10: Arunachal Pradesh vs Mizoram, GS Patel Stadium, Nadiad
Taruwar Kohli scored a run-a-ball 127 to take Mizoram to 234/8 which was not enough as Arunachal Pradesh logged four points from the plate group. Opener Samarth Seth led Arunachal's chase with a 107, while Kshitiz Sharma gave good support with a quick 61 as they romped home with 18 balls to spare.
