With a huge win over Hyderabad, Mumbai reached the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, due to heavy rain. At the time when the match was stopped due to rain, according to the VJD method, Mumbai was 60 runs ahead which finally lead to their win over Hyderabad. It is the 9th consecutive victory for Mumbai in the tournament.
The 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw and captain Shreyas Iyer both scored half-centuries for their team.
Mumbai had the target of 247 runs to chase. However, rain stopped the play when Mumbai score was 155/2 in 25 overs.
For Hyderabad, Rohit Raydu scored an unbeaten 121 which helped his team put a total of 246/8 on board. Apart from Raydu none of the batsmen could tackle the Mumbai bowling attack as BP Singh (29) was the second best scorer for Hyderabad.
While Rohit Rayudu hit eight fours and four sixes in his 132-ball innings, Captain Ambati Rayudu could only manage 11 runs. On behalf of Mumbai, Tushar Deshpande bowled brilliantly and got two wickets for 55 while RH Dias took two wickets for 43 runs.
Shaw, who made an international debut during the Test series against the West Indies, scored 66 runs in 44-ball 44 with eight fours and two sixes to get a decent start for his team. Meanwhile, great contest between him and Hyderabad's fast bowler Mohammad Siraj was also seen during the match.
