After Kulwant Khejroliya (31/6), thanks to Captain Gautam Gambhir (104) brilliant knock, Delhi defeated Haryana by five wickets and made it to the semi-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy cricket tournament.
Gambhir who was celebrating his 37th birthday, made a brilliant 69-ball hundred, smashing 16 fours in 72 balls.
Haryana decided to bat first after winning the toss at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Thanks to the half-centuries by Chaitanya Bishnoi (85) and Pramod Chandila (59), the team managed to put a total of 229 runs in 49.1 overs.
Bishnoi scored six fours and two sixes in 117 balls while Chandila hit three fours and a six in 88 balls.
For Delhi, Khejroliya took the most number of six wickets giving away 31 runs. Apart from him, Navdeep Saini got three wickets and one wicket for Lalit Yadav.
Chasing the target of 230 runs posted by Haryana, Gambhir and Unmukt Chand (15) together posted a total of 54 runs for the first wicket in 5.6 overs. After that, Unmukt was dismissed after hitting two fours in 16 balls.
For Haryana, Rahul Tewatiya took three wickets for 32 runs, Arun Chopra got one wicket for 25 runs and Yuzvendra Chahal got one wicket for 56 runs.
