Maharashtra vs Karnataka
Ankit Bawne scored an unbeaten ton to help Maharashtra defeat Karnataka by 57 runs by the VJD method in the rain-hit Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite Group A game at Bengaluru on Thursday.
This was Maharashtra's second successive victory after their win over Goa Wednesday by five wickets. Maharashtra posted 245/8 on the board in their fifty overs. Karnataka's target was reset to 165, but they managed to post only 107/6 in 22.4 overs with rain intervention.
Top Performer: Put in to bat by Karnataka, Ankit Bawne took the opposition bowlers to task en route to 104 not out in 115 balls. He found an able partner in Maharashtra skipper Rahul Tripathi, who chipped in with a valuable 70-run inning. Bawne struck 10 fours and a six, while Tripathi hit seven fours and two other hits over the fence.
Star Watch: For once, Mayank Agarwal failed to register a big score and fell for only 12. He got out to seasoned campaigner Samad Fallah.
Vidarbha vs Baroda
Baroda got the better of Vidarbha by 37 runs via VJD method in a rain-hit encounter at Bengaluru.
Batting first, Vidarbha scored 258 for 7 riding on twin half-centuries by openers Atharva Raide (58) and Faiz Fazal (57). In reply, Baroda reached 151 for 2 when rain played spoilsport. They were ahead of the VJD par score by 37 runs when play was called off.
Star watch: Krunal Pandya was unbeaten on 34 off 49 balls, hitting 3 fours and one six after coming in to bat at No. 4. Surprisingly, he bowled only one over in Vidarbha’s innings.
Railways vs Himachal Pradesh
In another rain-hit encounter of Group A, Himachal Pradesh defeated Railways by 33 runs.
Batting first, Railways were bowled out for 187 in 47.5 overs while Himachal Pradesh reached 170 for 5 riding on a superb 77-run inning Prashant Chopra.
Top Performer: Young Mayank Dagar was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball for Himachal. Bowling his controlled left-arm spin, Dagar picked up four wickets for 38 runs to bowl Railways out cheaply.
