New Delhi: Donchester-on-Thames, a village cricket side scored 40 runs in the final over of the match to secure one of the most unlikely victories.
Donchester needed 35 runs in final six deliveries of the game and they looked certainly out of contest in Oxfordshire Cricket Association match on Saturday.
Earlier, Swirnbook had managed to score 245 runs in 45 overs and in response the Donchester side were trailing on 206/7 in 49 overs, with 54-year-old Steve McComb on strike to face Mihai Cucos.
Unfortunately, Mihai started the over with a no-ball which smashed straight away for a six. McComb fired another one to six, adding 13 runs in just one legitimate delivery.
With 22 needed from 5 balls, Cucos made a brilliant comeback with a Yorker and the batsman was unable to score.
McComb then crashed the next ball for four and again found the ropes as Cucos delivered another no-ball.
Now, with 13 needed of 3 deliveries, McComb managed to score two maximums, leaving the scores level with one delivery to come.
Swirnbook skipper took the fielder inside to avoid McComb from taking single but he danced down the pitch to hit the fifth six of the over, winning the match and completing his own century.
