Virat Kohli's tenure as India's Test captain was marked by highs and lows, particularly during tours to SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia), where the competition was intense.

Team India attaining the historic first-ever Test series win against Australia in Australia during the 2018-19 season was one of the standout achievements under Virat's captaincy. However, Kohli's path to leading India to historic success against Australia was far from easy. Earlier in 2018, the Indian cricket team, under Kohli's leadership, faced a morale-shattering 1-4 series defeat against England.

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast, revealed a heartbreaking story about Virat Kohli, describing how India's heavy defeat in the series against England deeply affected Kohli's mental state.

"Virat, I mean, everything he's been through, the times he's not been in good form, some insights that Anushka shared with me, about his mindset. I think it was a Nottingham Test. Where India had lost, and she said she didn’t attend that game that day. She came back, she didn’t know where Virat was, and she came to the room and saw him laid down, literally crying," Dhawan said on the TRS podcast.

Dhawan continued: "How he took the whole thing on himself like I failed, when he was still the highest scorer that day. He was the captain of the side."
