Meerut Mavericks defeated Kanpur Superstars by 5 wickets to clinch the UP T20 League 2024 title at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on September 14 (Saturday). Kanpur, batting first, put up a strong total of 190 for 5 in their 20 overs. Sameer Rizvi led the charge with a well-played 57 off 36 balls, while Shaurya Singh smashed a blistering 56 off just 23 balls.
Chasing a target of 191, the Meerut Mavericks had a rough start as Akshay Dubey was dismissed for a duck. However, Swastik Chikara and Madhav Kaushik stabilised the innings with some counter-attacking batting. Chikara scored a brisk 62-run knock off just 31 balls, while Kaushik anchored the chase with an unbeaten 69 off 43 balls, helping Meerut to clinch the title.
