Since the 2015 World Cup, there always has been something or the other that has triggered a social media war between India and Bangladesh fans whenever these two teams have met in an ODI. The Asia Cup was final was no different. The triggering incident this time was the dismissal of Bangladesh opener Liton Das.

Though Liton Das smashed his maiden ODI century, making way for his team to post 222, it was his mode of dismissal that attracted a lot of attention on social media. It became a matter of grave concern, especially among the Bangladeshi fans. In the 41st over when Liton, batting on 121, stretched a bit too far to make contact with a Kuldeep googly, Dhoni gathered the ball and whipped the bails off in a flash. After several replays, the third umpire finally ruled it in India’s favour. Indeed it was a close call and needed several replays for the third umpire to come to a conclusion which was a fair one.

But the decision did not go down well with the Bangladeshi fans. Soon after third umpire, Rod Tucker declared Das out, twitter was flooded with with tweets from angry Bangladeshi fans.

Dear ICC/ACC, stop sucking India in the public. Have some privacy. Liton Das was not out.#INDvBAN #ICC

However, there were some who applauded Dhoni for his quick glovework.
