BULAWAYO: West Indies lost three wickets in the final over as Zimbabwe snatched a tie in their triangular series ODI on Saturday.

West Indies went into the last six balls needing just four runs to win but Carlos Brathwaite fell to the second ball of the last over and Ashley Nurse and Jonathan Carter were run out.

Carter was out last ball of the one-day international as the West Indians tried to sneak through for what would have been the winning run with the scores tied. Zimbabwe wicketkeeper Peter Moor hit the stumps with his throw to give Zimbabwe the tie as West Indies finished on 257-8, tying with Zimbabwe's 257 all out.

Shai Hope's 101 and Kraigg Brathwaite's 78 should have led West Indies to victory but they lost four wickets for 15 at the end.

"We should have won the game, but that's cricket," said West Indies captain Jason Holder.

"It's important for the guys to learn from this occasion. As a young team we just need to think a bit more when we get into these tight positions."
