New Delhi: The Scotland team has made a splash in the T20 World Cup 2021 qualifier round. The team surprised everyone by defeating Bangladesh in their first match. While in the second match played yesterday, the team strengthened its bid to reach Super 12 by defeating Papua New Guinea (PNG).
There is a huge craze for the Scottish team's game as well as their jersey this year. Fans are liking the jersey with purple stripes in dark blue. At the same time, the jersey is also proving to be lucky for Scotland.
But do you know about the designer of this jersey?
The name of Scotland's cricket jersey designer is Rebecca Downie and she is only 12 years old. Cricket Scotland thanked their designer on Tuesday.
The post, shared on Cricket Scotland Twitter, also shared a picture of Rebecca Downie in which she is seen wearing Scotland's team jersey.
Cricket Scotland wrote in its post, "Meet 12-year-old Rebecca Downie living in Haddington. Wearing our team's jersey, she is watching our first match of the T20 World Cup on TV. The highlight is that she has also designed this dress. Thank you once again, Rebecca."
The Scottish team had invited designs from children across all schools in the country for their dress. The team received close to 200 entries. However, out of all these, the design of Rebecca Downie was chosen as the winner of this competition.
Scotland's jersey is based on the colours of the country's national symbol 'The Thistle'. Before leaving for the T20 World Cup 2021, Rebecca presented the team jersey. At the same time, she and her family were also invited as special guests for the match against Zimbabwe played in Edinburgh.
