New Delhi: Irfan Pathan rolled the clock backwards as his devastating opening spell handed West Zone an easy 8-wicket victory over mighty North Zone in the Mushtaq Ali inter-zonal T20 tournament at Mumbai.

Pathan sent back in-from Dhawan for 3 and then dismissed Pant and Yuvraj in successive deliveries to dent North Zone’s chances of getting a decent total on board.

Anchored by Gautam Gambhir’s 60 off 57, North Zone crawled their way to 107 in 20 overs.

Irfan Pathan returned with exceptional figures of 3 for 10 in his quota of 4 overs.

In, reply West Zone made light work of the target as openers Shreyas Iyer and Parthiv Patel put on an 80-run opening stand. Parthiv top scored with 56 as West reached home with 44 balls to spare.

Brief Score: North Zone 107/8 (Gambhir 60, Irfan: 3/10) lost to West Zone 108/2 in 12.4 overs (Parthiv 56, Rasool 1/7) by 8 wickets.
