The Men in Blue are on a roll in the ongoing T20 World Cup that is going on in Australia. Rohit Sharma and company have won their first two games against Pakistan and the Netherlands and they sit at the top of the Group 2 points table. India’s batting order has played a crucial role in their winning run, especially Virat Kohli. The former India skipper has been in a terrific touch as he scored  82 from 53 balls against Pakistan and then followed up with an unbeaten 62 in just 44 balls against the Netherlands in the second match on Thursday.

Apart from Virat Kohli, there’s one more batsman who has been making headlines in the mega event and that is Suryakumar Yadav. He amassed 25-ball 51 against the Netherlands and bagged the Player of the Match award. Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir was elated with Surya's performance and said ever since he started playing international cricket, he has played many match-winning innings for the Men in Blue.

"At No.4, he doesn't(often) get the luxury of batting in the first six overs, still being able to score close to 1000 runs at that strike rate. He has taken a lot of pressure off, whether it is Virat Kohli that he is batting alongside, Rohit Sharma, or for that matter, even KL Rahul. Whenever he has batted, he has been the aggressor," Gambhir said on Star Sports.

"He is the one who is taking a lot of pressure off the top three and that's the reason why India have been able to get to 180 runs (179) today," Gambhir added.

Surya has scored 867 runs in the 25 T20I matches he played in 2022 an average of 41.28 and a strike rate of 184.86.
