But now when it is finally looking like a great international career already for the talented batter, especially in the shortest format of the game, it seems like he is getting his due.
The man who took what will go down as one of the most celebrated catches in India's cricket history during the last over of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa that played a key role in India's win was named the skipper of India's T20I side on July 20 (Saturday) ahead of Hardik Pandya.

And now his first Instagram post ever since that announcement was made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken the internet by storm. "Thank you so much for outpouring love, support and best wishes from you. Last few weeks have been nothing short of a dream and I am truly grateful," SKY, as he is often called, wrote.
"Playing for the country is the most special feeling that I will never be able to describe in words. This new role brings with it, a lot of responsibility, excitement and enthusiasm. I hope to keep receiving your support and blessings," he added.
"All fame reaches God, God is great," the 33-year-old concluded.
