Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar believes Rohit Sharma should be made the captain of India for the next two T20 World Cups. Gavaskar also said that he sees KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant as suitable vice-captains of the T20 format.

Gavaskar said, "I think Rohit should be the captain for the next two World Cups. You can say that because the World Cups are going to be played one after the other. One is to be played next month and the other is to be played next year. You wouldn't want to change captain frequently at such times. Rohit will be my choice for captain for both the T20 World Cups."

Under Rohit's captaincy, India won the Nidahas Trophy and Asia Cup in 2018. Gavaskar also suggested the names of Rahul and Pant as the vice-captains of the team.

Rohit set to become captain.

Gavaskar said, "I see Rahul as vice-captain. I consider Pant as an option because he has led the Delhi Capitals admirably and he is using Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada proficiently. Rahul and Pant are the two players I see as vice-captains."

Team India captain Virat Kohli will quit the T20 captaincy after the T20 World Cup, which begins next month. Rohit Sharma leads the race to become team India's new captain in the T20 format.
