Steve Smith pulls a sensational catch to dismiss BJ Watling (Picture grab from WWOS)

New Delhi: Australia thrashed New Zealand by 68 runs at Sydney Cricket Ground to the win 1st ODI. Skipper Steve Smith smashed 164, the highest one-day international score at the Sydney Cricket Ground, to lead Australia to 324 for eight against New Zealand.

164 against New Zealand on Sunday was Steve Smith’s highest score in the limited over format. But, the Australia skipper will remember this game not for his brilliance with the bat but the sensational catch he grabbed to dismiss New Zealand’s Vice-Captain BJ Watling.

The Australia born wicket-keeper batsman played a fine shot towards the backward point and expected four runs before Steve Smith came into picture. The 27-year-old quickly aimed the ball, diving towards his left and took a blinder. Smith just had reaction time of just 0.686 seconds to snaffle one of the best catches of all time at his home ground.
