AUS Vs SA: Legendary Australian cricketer Steve Smith leaves the field in pain, as the reigning World Test champions are facing an injury scare in the WTC 2025 Final against South Africa.
The Modern Era great ended up dislocating his fielding after dropping Temba Bavuma's catch in the slips, off Mitchell Starc's bowling, during the Afternoon session on Day 3 of the Final at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London.

"Steve Smith has suffered a compound dislocation of his right little finger while fielding in the slip cordon during the ICC Men's World Test Championship Final against South Africa at Lord's. He was assessed by Australian team medical staff at the ground and taken to hospital for x-rays and further treatment," confirmed the Australian Cricket Team.
Young opener Sam Konstas has replaced Steve Smith on the field as substitute fielder, and with this being the last innings of the Final, we might not see Steve Smith in action anymore for the next two days.
South Africa Cruising At Tea, Day 3
South Africa are 94/2 after 24 overs at Tea, Day 3, as the Proteas now need less than 200 runs to win their first-ever major silverware. Australia got off to a terrific start by dismissing Ryan Rickelton earlier in the innings, but a 61-run stand between Aiden Markram and Wiaan Mulder raised concerns for the reigning Test champions.
A loose shot from the latter resulted in a regulation catch at covers for Marnus Labuschagne, as South Africa were reduced to 70/2. Not only Australia, but South Africa too, have suffered an injury scare of their own, as skipper Temba Bavuma was seem limping off after completing a single.
The right-handed batter received medical treatment on the field, before surviving the last 15 minutes of the session.
