Mumbai: Indian cricket team legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday took to Twitter to share former South Africa president Nelson Mandela's quote on how sport has the power to change the world.

Not only Sachin but many other sports personalities have condemned racism and social injustice after an African-American citizen George Floyd was brutally murdered to death by a US Cop, sparking off wide-scale protests all over the United States.

"Nelson Mandela once said, "Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to unite the world in a way that little else does." Wise words," Tendulkar tweeted.

Iconic global sportsperson from Tiger Woods to West Indies cricket greats Chris Gayle and Darren Sammy have voiced their anger, dismay and protest against the racism faced by people of colour throughout the world.

"Racism is not only in football, it's in cricket too!! Even within teams as a Black man I get the end of the stick!!! Black Powerful! Black & Proud!" Gayle said.

Sammy in the other hand called on the ICC and fellow cricketers to speak up on Floyd's death.

"For too long black people have suffered. I'm all the way in St Lucia and I'm frustrated. If you see me as a teammate then you see George Floyd, Can you be part of the change by showing your support. #BlackLivesMatter," Sammy wrote on his Twitter handle.
