Ever since Gautam Gambhir has taken over as the head coach of the Indian men's cricket team, it seems like there has been a definite change in mindsets. While the team under Rahul Dravid believed in specialists as was evident with the way Team India used Shivam Dube in the T20 World Cup 2024, Gambhir has perhaps had a word because even the specialist batters can be seen rolling their arms over.

Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh bowled in the Sri Lanka T20Is and now even Shreyas Iyer was seen bowling during Day 1 of the TNCA XI and Mumbai match of the Buchi Babu tournament. The man who-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to their Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2024 was seen bowling with an action which seemed to be inspired from his KKR teammate as he plied his trade for the Sarfaraz Khan-led Mumbai alongside Suryakumar Yadav at the Sri Ramakrishna College Cricket Ground.

KKR To Strip Shreyas Iyer Of Captaincy?

While there is still some time to go for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, media reports have suggested that KKR might even be considering letting go of Shreyas Iyer, if Mumbai Indians (MI) agree to let go of Suryakumar Yadav in a trade deal. However, there has not been a comment made by either franchise and the source of this potential trade is media reports.

There is set to be a major reshuffle this year with a mega-auction lined up before IPL 2025, somewhere around December. With Suryakumar being named India's T20I captain, he could have captaincy ambitions in the IPL which is why several such options are possible.
