On the third day of the first Test between Bangladesh and West Indies in Chittagong, Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Saturday dismissed Windies opener Kieran Powell for a first ball duck on Day 3 to become the fastest player to get 200-wickets in Test cricket and score 3,000 runs.
The 31-year-old attained the milestone after surpassing England legend Ian Botham. While it took 54 Tests for Shakib to achieve the landmark, Botham reached the same figures in 55 matches.
Shakib also praised veteran spinner Taijul Islam, who picked up six wickets for 33 as Bangladesh won the first Test against Windies in Chittagong by 64 runs.
"We have some quality spinners. When it's difficult to extract help from the wicket, our bowling might not seem to be as effective. But we will do very well when we get some help from the wicket," said Shakib.
However, Shakib wants the young bowlers to develop as they progress in the game.
"(Sometimes) a bowler might not get wicket while another bowler is taking wickets at the other end. So to choke the flow of runs from his end and to help his partner in such cases is the kind of mentality we need to develop. Our spinners will do much better once they learn to use this game sense and play according to the situations." he added.
The second match of the Test series between Bangladesh and West Indies will be played from November 30 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka.
