Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi took to social media to posted his prayers for the speedy recovery of the 10 Pakistan cricketers who have tested positive for Covid-19.


The highly contagious pandemic infected 7 more Pakistan national team players on Tuesday after 3 players contracted the disease on Monday. All 10 cricketers which have caught the viral infection were earlier  named in Pakistan's 29-member squad for their tour to England in August.

Afridi, who himself tested positive for Coronavirus earlier this month, took to social media to wish the affected players and also appealed all Pakistanis to take the virus seriously.

"Prayers for quick recovery of Fakhar, Imran Khan, Kashif, Hafeez, Hasnain, Rizwan and Wahab and Malang. Please take good care. Appeal to all Pakistanis, please take the virus seriously!" Afridi tweeted.


Pakistan's tour of England has suffered a major sent after the news of Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan and Wahab Riaz testing positive for Covid-19 came less than 24 hours after Haider Ali, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan contracted the virus.

Apart from the 7 players a support personnel named Malang Ali (masseur) also tested postive for Covid-19. PCB said that Shoaib Malik, Cliffe Deacon and Waqar Younis are still to undergo a Covid-19 test.

"The PCB medical panel is already in contact with these players and the masseur, who have been instructed to observe strict quarantine at their homes for their and their families’ wellbeing," the Pakistan board said in a statement.

PCB also said that players and player support personnel, who have tested negative, will assemble in a bio-secure environment in Lahore on 24 June and will undergo second round of testing on 25 June.
