Kolkata Knight Riders suffered an embarrassing 102 runs defeat to Mumbai Indians and the franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was the first one to apologies the supporters after the humiliation at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday.

The Bollywood superstar took to Twitter to say “Sports is about the spirit; wins/losses don’t reflect that. But tonite as the ‘Boss’ I need to apologise to the fans for the lack of spirit,” said Shah Rukh Khan.

The 52-year-old was present at the picturesque Eden gardens to cheer his players in the crucial encounter but left the stadium in disappointment even before the game ended.

Sent into bat at the Eden Gardens, defending champions MI scored an imposing 210 for 6, riding on 19-year-old Kishan's 21-ball 62, studded with five fours and six sixes, and then bowled KKR out for 108 in 18.1 overs.

After the defeat on Wednesday, Kolkata Knight Riders have slipped to 5th position in the points tally and heavy losing margin has forced the run rate down to -0.359.
