Sanju Samson's father, Samson Vishwanath, has reportedly leveled strong criticism at Indian cricket icons Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, accusing them of "ruining 10 years" of his son's career.

Samson, captain of the Rajasthan Royals in IPL, has struggled with inconsistency since his T20 debut for India in 2015, preventing him from securing a permanent spot. While he was given opportunities here and there, his inconsistent performances often saw him on the bench for most of his international career.

The keeper-batter was picked in India squad for T20 World Cup 2024 but didn't get a game. However, with the recent retirements of Kohli and Sharma, new opportunities may now emerge for Samson's international journey.

Sanju Samson, now 30, is finally getting a consistent run at the top of the order in T20 internationals. He recently made headlines with a century against South Africa in Durban, becoming the first Indian batter to score consecutive hundreds in T20Is. This impressive feat followed his century against Bangladesh in a T20 series, earlier in October.

Sanju Samson's father, Samson Vishwanath, reportedly spoke to a Malayalam news outlet in Kerala, where he criticized Dhoni, Kohli, Rohit, and Rahul Dravid, accusing them of ruining key years of Sanju's cricketing career.

"There are 3-4 people who wasted 10 years of my son's vital career...captains like Dhoni ji, Virat [Kohli] ji, Rohit [Sharma] ji, and coach [Rahul] Dravid ji," Vishwanath said in an interview with a Malayalam news outlet.

"These four people destroyed 10 years of my son's life, but the more they hurt him, the stronger Sanju came out of the crisis," he continued.

"People have been saying he [Srikkanth] was a great player, but I haven't seen it. A century is a century, and Sanju is a player with a classical touch like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. At least respect that!" Samson's father further added.

Besides, Vishwanath thanked current head coach Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav, for giving his son opportunities in the T20I team.

"I want to thank Gautam Gambhir bhai and Suryakumar bhai. If these two people did not come at this time, they would have dropped him from the team like in the past," he stated.
