Dynamic Indian opener Rohit Sharma yet again proved why is known as the HITMAN of Indian cricket. In the 4th ODI against West Indies in Mumbai, the Indian vice-captain played a smoking 162-run knock to power India with a mammoth 377-run total in the first innings. He may have missed his 4th double-ton, but shattered a number of batting records at his home.

Rohit Sharma - The next sixer king

During his 137-ball stint at the crease, Rohit smashed 4 sixes to complete 198 maximums in ODI cricket for India. He has now become the only second Indian batsman after MS Dhoni (218 sixes in 281 innings) to hit most sixes. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 195 ODI sixes from 452 innings.

Rohit now needs 2 more biggies to enter the club of batsmen with more than 200 sixes in the ODI format.

Scoring 150 and more - Not a big deal for Rohit

Apart from the number of sixes, Rohit went past 150-run mark for the seventh time in his career. He has left behind Tendulkar and David Warner who did so on 5 occasions while Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, Hashim Amla and Sanath Jayasuriya have scored 150 runs or more four times.

Rohit has scored 150+runs twice in the ongoing ODI rubber against West Indies. An unbeaten 152 in Guwahati and 162 in Mumbai have made him the only second batsman in the world after Zimbabwe’s Hamilton Mazakadza to score 150 runs or more twice in an ODI series.

Highest individual score against West Indies:

Rohit’s 162 turned out to be the second highest score by an Indian against West Indies. Former opener Virender Sehwag tops the charts with his lone double century which he smashed in 2011 in Indore.

Highest individual score by an Indian in 2018

Rohit got the highest individual score by an Indian cricketer in this calendar year. Surprisingly, he only owns the record of setting the highest individual score by an Indian in a calendar year since 2013.
