Rohit Sharma Injury Update: The fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia is set to begin on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). However, Team India faces a setback as captain Rohit Sharma sustained an injury during a practice session in Melbourne, raising doubts about his availability for IND vs AUS 4th Test at the MCG.

How did Rohit Sharma get injured?

According to reports, Rohit Sharma injured his left knee on Sunday, December 22, while practicing with a throwdown specialist. The incident occurred when a ball struck his pad and hit his knee during the session, just days ahead of IND vs AUS Boxing Day Test.

Post-injury, Rohit was seen applying an ice pack to his knee and was limping as he exited the nets. While there has been no official update on his condition, the team and fans are hopeful for a speedy recovery.

Team India's Record in the Boxing Day Test

The upcoming IND vs AUS 4th Test, starting from December 26 onwards at the MCG, will be a Boxing Day Test. The Indian cricket team has played 9 Boxing Day Tests in total. Their first encounter in 1985 ended in a draw, followed by five consecutive defeats to Australia. In 2014, the match ended in a draw again, but in 2018, under captain Virat Kohli, India defeated Australia in the Boxing Day Test. India repeated this success in 2020, winning the Boxing Day Test for the second time in a row.
