Indian cricket team's all-format skipper Rohit Sharma, who hasn't played a single T20 International match for the national team since T20 World Cup 2022 in November, said he is 'looking forward' to playing in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2025 in the United States of America and Caribbean. Senior batters Rohit and Virat haven't played a single match in the shortest format for India ever since their humiliating exit in last year's T20 World Cup in Australia. In Rohit's absence, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya captained India in a three-match T20I series against New Zealand in November last year, against Sri Lanka and New Zealand in January 2023 and is currently leading a young team in the ongoing five-match T20I series against West Indies.

For the first time in America, a Franchise League T20 tournament - Major League Cricket (MLC 2023) - was organized. The title of the maiden MLC season was won by MI New York, franchise team of Rohit Sharma-capained Mumbai Indians (MI). Speaking at the launch of his academy in USA's California, Rohit confirmed his availability for T20 World Cup 2024, set to be jointly hosted by USA and West Indies. He said he is looking forward to visiting USA next year for the marquee tournament.

"More than just going and enjoying, there is another reason to come here (in the USA). Because you know the World Cup is coming. In June, there will be the T20 World Cup (2024) happening in this part of the world. So, I'm pretty sure everyone is excited. So yaa, we look forward to that," Rohit said in a video that is going viral on the internet.
