Ending a string of low scores in the ongoing Test series against England, India captain Rohit Sharma scored his 11th Test hundred in the ongoing third Test at the newly renamed Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. With this, the Indian opener broke a long standing record as he became the oldest Indian skipper to score a ton in international cricket. The Hitman got to the three-figures mark aged 36 years, 291 days. With this he surpassed the previous record which was held by Vijay Hazare, a feat he achieved in 1951.
During a Test match against the Three Lions, Rohit scored a ton aged 36 years and 278 days. However, the record has finally been broken by Rohit who already held the record for being the oldest Indian skipper to score a ton in ODIs and T20Is. It was a momentous occasion as the experienced Indian player broke a 73-year-old record in an innings in which he had breached the 50-run barrier for the first time in the series.

Rohit Sharma Surpasses Sourav Ganguly's Tally Of International Runs
During his knock worth 131, Rohit also managed to surpass Sourav Ganguly's tally of international runs. While Ganguly had 18,575 international runs, Rohit now has more than that and remains only behind Sachin Tendulkar (24,208), Virat Kohli (26,733) and current India head coach Rahul Dravid (24,208) as India's fourth Indian highest run-getter in international cricket.
In addition, the Mumbai Indians (MI) star went past MS Dhoni in the list of most number of sixes as an international captain. While Dhoni had 211, Rohit now only trails Eoin Morgan who had 233 sixes in 180 innings. Rohit has so far played 121 innings as skipper. With Rohit set to continue as the skipper at least till the T20 World Cup in white-ball cricket and the 2023-25 cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC), he could end up beating Morgan on this list.
