India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant recently recalled his first thoughts after a near-fatal car crash in December 2022. Pant was driving from Delhi to his hometown Roorkee and wanted to surprise his mother for New Year's Celebrations when his car lost control. The Delhi Capitals (DC) star sustained serious injuries in that accident and he continues to recover from them, having not played a competitive match ever since that incident.

In a recent video shared by broadcasters Star Sports, Pant sheds light upon the accident and his first thoughts after the incident. He said that he felt his time is over in this world, moments after the accident. However, as luck would have it, he was rushed to a private hospital in Dehradun for primary treatment after which he was airlifted to Mumbai's Kokilaben Ambani hospital where he received treatment under Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) empanelled doctor.

"First time aisa tha life mein, ho gaya time ab iss world mein. Itna bada ho sakta tha, ye cheej aapko bhi nahi pata tha. Itna accident hone ke baad bhi, I was alive. Something has saved me. Doctor bola yaar ki 16 to 18 months lagenge. Second life har kisi ko toh milti nahi hai (first time in my life, I felt like my time in this world was up. I was lucky, as it could have been even more serious. Despite the crash, I was alive. Something has saved me. The doctor said it would take 16–18 months. I am fortunate to have a second life)," Pant says in the promo video.

Rishabh Pant Set To Lead DC In IPL 2024

Meanwhile, Pant is expected to lead DC in IPL 2024. While the injuries sustained in the accident had ruled him out of the previous season of the tournament and in his absence it was David Warner who led the team, this year the stumper is set to return at the helm of affairs. Pant remains positive of his quick return to the cricket field.
