A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gujarat visit, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba Jadeja joined BJP on Sunday. She was inducted into the party in the BJP party office in Jamnagar in presence of senior BJP leaders.

Rivaba was received warmly by MP Poonamben Madam, cabinet minister RC Faldu and MLA Dharmendrasinnh Jadeja.

Rivaba was appointed as the head of Karni Sena’s women wing in Gujarat last year in October, which set the stage for her entry into politics. The formal announcement, however, came only on Sunday.

Later on, Rivaba said the working style of PM Modi was her inspiration behind joining the party. PM Modi is slated to visit Jamnagar tomorrow.

Rivaba also revealed that she had the full support of her husband in her decision to join politics. “It is still a male-dominated system and women need permission from husbands. However, my husband has not only given me permission but has also extended support for the future,” Rivaba added.

Notably, Jadeja’s elder sister Nainaba Jadeja had joined politics on February 5 and was appointed as the western zone in-charge of the newly-formed National Women’s Party.

Rivaba who hails from Keshod in Junagadh is an engineering graduate. She had married Jadeja in April 2016. The couple were blessed with a baby girl in June last year.
