India’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is in the headlines again after he took the wicket of Ba11sy Trichy’s Daryl Ferrario in just his second delivery of the match in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League. He is leading the Dindigul Dragons team in the TNPL. Ashwin once again proved that India made a blunder after leaving him out of the Playing XI from the World Test Championship final  2023 final against Australia.

Trichy won the toss and opted to bat first but soon their decision turned out to be a nightmare as they were restricted to just 120 runs with Ashwin picking a wicket of Ferrario and Ganga Sridhar Raju in his four overs of spell, conceding just 26 runs.

Earlier, in the latest ICC Test rankings, the Tamil Nadu-based bowler continued to be at the number 1 spot despite not playing World Test Championship final against Australia. And as a result, India lost the game by 209 runs and many cricket pundits blamed the Indian team management for not selecting the veteran spinner in the playing XI.

Former India legend Sachin Tendulkar also questioned as to why Ashwin missed playing the WTC 2023 final at The Oval in London.

“I fail to understand the exclusion of @ashwinravi99 in the playing XI, who is currently the number one Test bowler in the world,” Sachin wrote.

“Like I had mentioned before the match, skillful spinners don’t always rely on turning tracks, they use drift in the air and bounce off the surface to disguise their variations,” said Sachin.

“Not to forget, Australia had 5 left-handers out of their top 8 batters,” he added.

The Kangaroos have now become the first team in the world to bag all the ICC titles including the ODI World Cup, the T20 World Cup, the Champions Trophy as well as the WTC.
