Rajasthan Kings beat New York Superstar Strikers by 20 runs in the final at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday (March 19) to emerge as the Legends Cricket Trophy 2024 champions. While it was Robin Uthappa-led Rajasthan Kings who batted first and posted a formidable 179/4 in their quota of 15 Overs, New York Superstar Strikers, in response managed to reach 159/6, succumbing to a defeat in the summit clash.

While Rajasthan Kings did lose the wicket of Robin Uthappa early in the innings only in the second over with 20 runs on the board, Zimbabwe's Hamilton Masakadza along with West Indies' Ashley Nurse stitched together a 116-run partnership for the second wicket, laying the foundation of a victory. Nurse, who was adjudged the Player Of the Match, scored 97 off 41 balls, narrowly missing out on a hundred while Masakadza scored 56 off 30 deliveries.

Jerome Taylor was the pick of the bowlers for New York Superstar Strikers as he finished with figures of 3/40. His victims included both Nurse and Masakadza but that wasn't enough for him to end on the winning side. With the bat, it was their skipper Yuvraj Singh who scored a half-century, top-scoring with 54 off 22 and also received support from Chamara Kapugedera (30 off 15) and Asela Gunaratne (24 off 13) but in the end, that proved insufficient for New York to win the titular contest.
