The opening day of the 3-day practice match between Board Presidents XI and South Africa was washed out due to incessant rain, even without the toss being held at the Dr PVG Raju ACA Sports Complex here on Thursday.
With rain coming down heavily at the venue in the morning hours and no signs of weather clearing up , the umpire decided to draw the stumps for the day. The visiting South African team have only practice game before they face the Indians in the series opener of the three-match Test rubber in Visakhapatnam.
After India leveled the recently concluded 3-match T20 series against South Africa, the teams will lock horns in the longer format of the game with a 3-match Test series commencing from October 2.
The series opener at Visakhapatnam will be played from October 2nd to October 6. The second rubber of the 3-match Test series will be played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. The 3rd and final match of the series will be played at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
