Rahmanullah Gurbaz notched up his seventh ODI hundred in the ongoing Afghanistan vs South Africa (AFG vs SA) 2nd ODI in Sharjah on Friday (September 20). Gurbaz got to the landmark with a boundary off Aiden Markram to get past the three-figure mark in 107 balls. Courtesy of a sublime hundred from Gurbaz, Afghanistan are in a very comfortable position against the Proteas with the scoreboard reading 187/1 after 34 overs.
Given the kind of situation Afghanistan find themselves in, they are sensing history after having beaten South Africa for the first time in an ODI in the series opener. If they continue in a similar fashion, the Afghans will give themselves a good chance of a historic series win after having reached the semifinals of the T20 World Cup earlier this year, beating the likes of Australia en route to a place in the final four.
Gurbaz-Rahmat Put On 101-Run Stand For The Second Wicket
Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Rahmat Shah put on 101-run stand for the second wicket before Gurbaz eventually departed for 105 off 110 deliveries with Nandre Burger producing the wicket. Earlier, there was an equally important 88-run opening stand with Riaz Hassan who chipped in with 29 off 45 balls himself before falling to Aiden Markram.
