Rachin Ravindra's Hundred Allows New Zealand To Post 402, Take First Innings Lead Of 356 Runs

Rachin Ravindra's ton has allowed New Zealand to take a massive first innings lead against India in first Test of the three-match series at the M Chinnswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

India have bowled out New Zealand for 402 in the first innings of the first Test match against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday (October 18). With India having been bowled out for 46 in the first innings, the tourists have taken a massive 356-run lead. For the Kiwis, Rachin Ravindra was the star performer with the bat scoring 134 while Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja were the stand out bowlers for India with three wickets apiece.

Other than Ravindra, Devon Conway chipped in with 91 runs while Tim Southee, who went past Virender Sehwag on the list of batters with most sixes in Test match cricket during his innings, scored 65. Southee and Ravindra added 137 runs off 132 balls for the eighth wicket to completely push the hosts on the backfoot after they had produced four wickets quickly in the first session on Day 3 and clawed their way back in the match in the only passage of play which seemed to belong to India.

India All Out For Lowest Test Total At Home

After Day 1 of the opening Test match in Bengaluru was called off without a ball bowled due to rain, India opted to bat first, a decision which captain Rohit Sharma attributed to his 'misjudgement' of pitch. India were bowled out for 46 with all the wickets falling to pacers. Matt Henry finished with figures of 5 for 15, William O’Rourke scalped 4 for 22 with the only remaining wicket falling to Tim Southee.
