Dinesh Mongia to join Bharatiya Janata Party: Former cricketer, Dinesh Mongia is going to start his political innings. He will join the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday. According to news agency ANI, Mongia will take the primary membership of the ruling party at the Centre in Delhi on Tuesday.


Dinesh Mongia hails from Punjab. The state is scheduled to go to the polls in the next few months and thus, Mongia joining BJP might have the significance of the Punjab elections.


Dinesh Mongia has played 57 ODIs for India. He played his last international match against Bangladesh in Dhaka in May 2007. Dinesh Mongia bid farewell to international cricket in 2019. He was part of the 2003 World Cup team. Dinesh Mongia made his debut against Australia in 2001.









Mongia was part of Team India for nearly 6 years. He scored 1 century and 4 half-centuries in 57 ODIs. He has 1230 runs to his name in ODIs. He also taken 14 wickets. Mongia could not do much in his first match and was dismissed for just 2 runs. Mongia managed to score his first international century in the match against Zimbabwe in Guwahati. In this match played in 2002, he scored 159 off 147 balls.
