Prasidh Krishna sustained a left quadriceps injury during the first day of Karnataka's Ranji Trophy 2023-24 match against Gujarat in Ahmedabad on January 12 (Friday). The 27-year-old sustained the injury just hours before the announcement of India's squad for the first two Tests in the England series. Consequently, he was not selected in the team for the initial two matches of the upcoming five-Test series against England.

Prasidh Krishna reportedly limped off the field after completing 14.5 overs, during which he secured the wickets of Manan Hingrajia and Siddharth Desai, contributing to Karnataka dismissing Gujarat for 264 in 88 overs. According to the PTI report, Prasidh will not be involved in any further proceedings of the match. Typically, quadriceps injuries require four to six weeks for recovery, depending on their severity.

Prasidh Krishna marked his Test debut during India's recent tour of South Africa after a prolonged absence of nearly a year due to a lumbar stress fracture. However, his performance in South Africa was very below-par, as the Test series concluded in a 1-1 draw. Prasidh managed to secure two wickets from the two Tests with an average of 65. Additionally, he emerged as the most expensive among India's bowlers throughout the series, having an economy rate of 4.64.

Unfortunately, Prasidh Krishna has gained notoriety for being expensive in his bowling performances across formats. A notable instance occurred during the third T20I of the India vs Australia series last year at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, where he concluded with figures of 4-0-68-0. In a high-scoring encounter, Australia successfully chased down 223 off the last ball, winning by five wickets. Prasidh was tasked with defending 21 runs in the final over, but he couldn't contain Glenn Maxwell, who quickly reached a century.

Prasidh Out Of First Two India vs England Tests

With Mohammad Shami still recovering from an ankle injury, India's squad for the initial two Tests against England includes Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Avesh Khan as the primary pacers. The opening Test is scheduled in Hyderabad on January 25, followed by the second Test in Visakhapatnam on February 2. Subsequent Tests will be held in Rajkot (February 15-19), Ranchi (February 23-27), and Dharamsala (March 7-11) for the third, fourth, and fifth Tests, respectively.
