PM Modi's Exclusive Interview With Indian Cricket Team: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official X handle is broadcasting the PM's exclusive intervew with the Indian Cricket Team, who are coming off a historic triumphant T20 World Cup 2024, as the nation ended it's 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. Team India met PM Modi at his residence and during the interview, legendary fast bowletr Jasprit Bumrah shared his thought-process when bowling under pressure or bowling the decisive overs.
The right-arm fast bowler added the fact that it takes immense practice, precision and mental strength to bowl under pressure and that, he always came to bowl the crucial overs for Team India.
Here's What Jasprit Bumrah Said During The Interview
"Whenever I bowl for India, it majorly comes at the crucial stages irrespective of the fact whether it is with the new ball or the old one. Whatever is the situation, whether it is easy or a bit tough, irrespective of that, I'll come in and bowl." said Bumrah.
"I feel really proud learning the fact that I always end up helping my team, dragging a win out of a tense situation. This ends up boosting my confidence and I often carry that confidence ahead into the fixtures. Even during the tournament (T20 World Cup 2024), I was tasked to help out my team in tense situations, and I am happy that I ended up doing so and helping India win," he added.
Narendra Modi was immensely impressed by consistency of Jasprit Bumrah and had the following to say to him:
"To the best of my knowledge, based upon the cricket I have watched, a batsman gets nervous after entering the infamous 'Nervous 90's'. Similarly, a bowler faces a similar situation while bowling the last over, or that decisive one ball which decides the fate of the match, and it is indeed, a huge headache."
The PM then later asked Bumrah on how does he handle such amount of pressure, and the Indian bowler shared his insights regarding the same:
"If I start thinking that we will lose the match, then I will tend to do something extra or unorthodox, which will potentially lead me to create an opening for the opponents by committing a mistake. At that moment, instead of focusing upon the outside distractions or anything else, I start focusing upon myself, my abilities, and recall all the goods I did in the past, so that I can bring them in use again to help my team at present"
"I never experienced being a World champion and now that I can, I feel extremely proud of my achievement and it is indeed, a special feeling," concluded Bumrah.
