BBL 14: Perth Scorchers close 2024 with a dominant win, as the record-time Big Bash League champions inflict a hammering on Adelaide Strikers by registering a 7-wicket win in what was a quick chase for the visitors.
The crowd at the Adelaide Oval was left stunned, as the home side were reduced to 58/8 and were staring at the barrel of a double-digit total, but Brendan Doggett and Cameron Boyce had other plans, as the duo registered a record-breaking partnership with their unbeaten 84-run stand, which now stands as the highest 9th wicket partnership in the history of BBL.

The fightback from the duo allowed Adelaide Strikers' bowlers a total to fight with, but Perth Scorchers were too good in their run chade, as their onslaught allowed them to chase down the total of 143 inside 14.3 overs, and hence, the Scorchers spoiled the New Year's Eve party of the home crowd comprehensively.
"The Strikers fought back well with the bat but we were still satisfied at the half way mark. Fin Allen is a class player and he showed it tonight. It was great to contribute and it was a lovely wicket to bat on. It did a bit early on but once I got in, it became a lot easier to bat," said Cooper Connolly, who was awarded the Player of the Match.
