Pakistan have announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 on Friday (May 24). The 2009 champions will be led by Babar Azam in the marquee event set to be played in the United States of America (USA) and the Caribbean Islands. Left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir and all-rounder Imad Wasim also feature in the squad after making a retirmement U-turn ahead of the competition.


"Of the 15 players, Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Saim Ayub and Usman Khan have been picked for their maiden T20 World Cup, while Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim last appeared in the 2016 and 2021 tournaments, respectively. The other eight players participated in the 2022 event in Australia," an official statement by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed.

While Waqar Younis had led the Men in Green to the title, Shoaib Malik was the skipper of the side that lost the final of the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup to India. Babar Azam, who also led the team in the 2021 and 2022 editions of the T20 World Cup, saw the side through to the summit clash in Australia where they finished as the runners-up.
