Former Pakistan pacer and India's favourite, Wasim Akram turned 55 on Thursday. Batsmen had no answer to Wasim Akram's swing bowling in the 90s and even in the early 2000s.
Akram has bowled many wonderful spells throughout his career that includes the 1992 World Cup campaign that established Akram as a pure swing bowler. But many would argue that Akram bowling to England's Michael Slater in 1995 is the best piece of opening bowling Test cricket has ever witnessed.
You can see Akram's wonderful swing bowling with minimum aggression but maximum impact.
Akram took to Twitter to thank his followers and well-wishers. He wrote: "Turning 55 and I’m stronger than ever before. Covid has taught me a lot. Family is the most incredible thing that has happened to me. I thank God for all the love in my life so I want to thank all of you following me on my journey and the support you have given me throughout."
Pakistan's sports presenter Zainab Abbas posted about Akram's birthday. A picture of Akram and Slater together.
Wasim Akram recently shared a fan-made edit video of his bowling. Check out this wonderful video:
Akram knows about his fan-base in India. He had posted the below picture on Holi:
This picture was taken when the Pakistan team came for a tour of India in 1897. The entire team played Holi in the swimming-pool area of Mumbai’s iconic Taj Hotel. It was apparently, the first time Gautam Bhimani met Wasim Akram.
We at ABP News wish Wasim Akram a very happy birthday!
