London: As Day 2 begins at Lord's Stadium in London, New Zealand's Devon Conway is inching closer to a double hundred on debut. On Day 1, Conway became the sixth player to score a century on debut at the Lord's.
Conway broke Sourav Ganguly's special record of being the highest-scoring debutant at Lord's. Ganguly held the record since 1996 as he had scored 131 on debut. Conway had so far gone past 150 on Day 2 and is looking to be the first batsman to hit a 200 on debut at Lord's Cricket Ground, the Mecca of cricket.
England and New Zealand are playing a 2-match Test series before New Zealand plays India at the World Test Championship Final on 18 June. Earlier in the Test match, New Zealand had won the toss and Kane Williamson chose to bat first at the Lords Cricket stadium. Conway came in to open the innings with Tom Latham. New Zealand captain and Tom Latham lost their wicket early but Henry Nicholls had a good partnership with the debutant.
In the first session on Day 2, New Zealand crossed the 300-mark. Conway was playing with a strike rate of 54.79 as he was playing at 166*. Ollie Robinson has been the pick of the bowlers for England. He picked 3 wickets. Wood picked 2 while James Anderson picked one wicket.
New Zealand will try to score as many runs today as the Lord's pitch doesn't look easy to score on.
