The Indian team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma outplayed Pat Cummins’ Australia in the  2nd Test match at Delhi. The game ended within the first three days as Indian bowlers unleashed fire. Post that, the BCCI declared squads for the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 on Sunday.

Ranji stalwart Jaydev Unadkat has made it into the Indian red-ball side after missing the 2nd Test against Australia. Jasprit Bumrah has still not been added to the squad as he is still recuperating from the back injury.

India's Test squad did not feature a vice-captain which suggests that even though KL Rahul has retained his place in the team, he might not be able to get a place in the Playing XI. Rahul managed 20 runs with the bat in the only innings that India batted in the first Test match in Nagpur while returning with figures of 17 and 1 in the first and second innings respectively of the Delhi Test. In addition, the Indian cricket board has also named the squad for the ODI series which will follow the Test matches.

The Indian cricket board has also stated that Rohit Sharma will not be available for the 1st ODI and in his absence, Hardik Pandya will captain the team. The Indian opener will return to lead in the second and third One-Day Internationals.
