Gus Atkinson Reflects On England's Dominant Day 2
Gus Atkinson is enjoying a memorable Test match, as he dismantled New Zealand's batting order with dismissals of Devon Conway, Nathan Smith, Matt Henry, and Tim Southee.
Speaking after the conclusion of Day 2, the star bowling all-rounder stated that the side will assess the conditions before taking a call on whether to declare their innings or not.
"Exactly, it started pretty well. Myself and Carsy did well upfront and the boys did a brilliant job to build that lead. I really didn't think about getting a hat-trick until standing at the end of the mark. Really special to get it. I mean we set it up. We were falling to the short ball plan. We thought about the bouncer but I tried the yorker but missed it and thankfully, it hit the pad," said Gus Atkinson.
"Not really sure what the plans are. We'll see tomorrow how the conditions are early and decide. I think we will stick to the usual stuff. Challenge the batters. Change the plans if they don't work. But we won't change much. It's a shame that Jacob couldn't get the hundred. But it was a wonderful innings and he'll get more hundreds in the future," he added.
