Australia will travel to New Zealand for a five match T20I series. The first match will be played on Monday 22 February. Recently, New Zealand had confirmed it on their Twitter account that the team will be wearing a retro jersey against Australia in the five-match series. The official account of the Blackcaps wrote: “The team will be wearing retro beige in all FIVE T20 matches against Australia.”

The New Zealand cricket team first wore a beige jersey in the 1980s when the colored clothing was first introduced in cricket. That kit in the 80’s had become a fashion disaster and the NZ cricket team was the butt of jokes. The NZ board then responded by changing the color to teal and then eventually deciding on the black color. Later, their nickname ‘Blackcaps’ came from their jersey color. Since then, they have been loyal about their jersey color. But in the upcoming series against Australia, they have decided to bring back the beige color in their jersey. Look at the pictures of the NZ team in the new jersey:

But, this is not the first time that NZ had switched to a beige jersey for the time-being. The NZ team wore the same jersey in the first ever T20 international that was played between New Zealand and Australia in 2005.

Later, in 2016 T20 Cricket World Cup, they again had a pinch of beige in their jersey.

Will the new jersey help the cause of the NZ team, we will have to wait to find out. Meanwhile, the five T20’s will begin from 22 February and will go on till 7 March 2021. The first match will begin at 11:30 am IST on 22 February. Follow ABP News Sports for all New Zealand vs Australia latest updates.
