New Delhi: Mustafizur Rahman, who played a promising role in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s title triumph in 2016, was expected to join the team after the opening game but it was revealed on Friday that he would fly back home for recovery time.
The 21-year-old pacer is expected to take a week off and he will miss the first few games. An update on his participation will be known by the weekend.
In IPL 2016, He clinched 17 wickets at an economy of 6.9. Mustafizur was in splendid form in recently concluded series against Sri Lanka; he clinched 6 wickets in 3 ODI’s and returned with 4 for 21 in the second T20 match.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board wants Mustafizur to rest, keeping in mind the busy schedule of the national team.
Even if he joins Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Bangladesh international will have to leave the tournament early as Bangladesh will travel to Ireland to play tri-series which begins on May 21.
